Reviews

“This was my 30th marathon and I rate it as one of the best. By starting and finishing in the Dome the weather was nearly a non-factor. No waiting in line for the porto potties. Fun for all members of the family. A flat and fast course. Three university campuses and many turns kept it interesting. Halfers did not crowd the field. Fantastic swag. Pizza and cookie dough for post run. Small airport and town makes you feel welcomed.” — T.S., Marathonguide.com Review

“Organization was top-notch with a big-city expo in the FargoDome. The swag was brilliant: a zippy shirt, colorful draw-string bag, and lots of free stuff from vendors. The bling was fabulous: the big medal resembles the Fargo Theater marquee. The volunteers and fans were wonderful, encouraging. The logistics were fantastic with the airport, hotels (stay at the Candlewood Suites!), and start/finish at the FargoDome all in very close proximity. The cool course ran through 3 college campuses, went along and over the Red River, jogged in and out of Minnesota, had lots and lots of music, and was flat. Weather was cold, windy, but dry. Guest speaker Deena Kastor was so accessible and inspirational; she signed my shirt. This Great Plains event was fun every step of the way. Don’t run this just to check off a state on your way to 50, run this race because it rocks!” — K.T., Marathonguide.com Review

Bismarck Marathon

If you enjoy smaller races and scenic runs, you will want to consider running the Bismarck Marathon instead of the Fargo Marathon. The event is extremely well organized and communication from Race Director David Nash is top-notch. Click here for registration dates and details.

The Course

The Bismarck Marathon is a good choice for a Boston Qualifier. Although there are two small hills at around miles 5 and 16, the remainder of the course is flat and fast. The course is run on both paved streets and paved bike trails and meanders along the Missouri river between miles 16 and 20.

Reviews

“Volunteers are always well-trained and friendly. I like a calmer, quieter marathon and that’s Bismarck. If you want a party, go to Fargo. This is an excellent race for people who don’t like being watched the whole time. That said, each year I’ve done it I’ve noticed the community getting more involved.” — Erica Belverstone, Facebook Review

“This is a terrific small race with excellent organization and a flat and fast course. Everything about it was easy and hassle free: free parking right next to start, race start and hotels near airport, enthusiastic volunteers with lots of water stops. Really liked fact that packet pick up was open until 9:00 pm for out-of-towners flying in. Highly recommend this race.” — D.C., Marathonguide.com Review
